Heritage & listed building cleaning in London

Some buildings don't forgive mistakes. Gilded plasterwork, historic marble, original brass and hundred-year-old timber can be damaged in a moment by the wrong product or the wrong cloth, and the damage is permanent.

Excell learned this trade in buildings where you can't cut corners, because the corners are gilded and a century old. Three decades of West End theatres taught us a simple discipline: a method statement for every surface, agreed before anyone touches it.

What we take care of

How we work around you

We start by walking the building with whoever guards it: estates manager, conservation officer, landlord's surveyor. Every sensitive surface gets a written method: products, tools, frequencies, what is never done. Our teams are trained on your building specifically, and the same people return, because in heritage buildings, familiarity is a safety system.

Questions we hear from venues like yours

Do you produce method statements for listed buildings?

Yes, that's the core of how we work. Every sensitive surface gets a documented method agreed with your estates or conservation contact before we start.

Can you work with our conservation officer or landlord?

We're used to multi-party sign-off: we'll walk the building with whoever needs to approve the approach and write the documentation they need.

What surfaces can you care for?

Gilt, ornamental plaster, marble, terrazzo, stone, brass, bronze, historic timber and textiles, and where something needs a conservator rather than a cleaner, we'll say so.

Walk your venue with us

We'd rather see your building than send a price list. Invite us in and we'll walk it with you, then prepare a bespoke quotation around your schedule and standards. No charge, no obligation.
